Welcome to Makers’ Yard, Umhlali

Our vision is to create a community of small makers and entrepreneurs collaborating and inspiring each other to grow their businesses. With no competing businesses on site and only 14 units available, we are looking for stand-out local businesses making unique and high quality products to join us. If you are ready to grow your business to the next level and would like to be part of our community send us an email telling us a little bit about your business and what size unit you are interested in.

If your business isn’t quite ready to take on a whole unit, we can help connect you to a complementary businesses with whom you may be able to share a space.

If you are at the initial start-up stages there are opportunities to rent a shelf in the cafe’s retail area to test the market for your products, gather sales data and fine-tune them before launching to a wider market.

All units have a WC, a wash-up sink, CCTV linked to Armed Response, fibre internet and a pre-paid electricity meter. An on site generator will prevent business interruptions caused by load shedding and our on site handyman will help you out with all those little inconveniences that take your focus away from the important task of running your business.

Regular workshops will enable makers to share knowledge and build on ideas to grow their businesses as well as provide a platform to engage with our customers and give back to the local community.
